Men Made For More Podcast Episode 171:Keep The Main Thing The Main Thing

[00:00:00] Dave: Hey there mighty man. I'm your host, Dr. Dave Paczkowski founder of men made for more coaching. Our business helps husbands love up there. The leadership and their legacy in marriage and in business, the purpose of this podcast is to bring together like-minded men that feel destined for big things in their life to provide you the resources and community that you need to lead yourself, your family and your business.

[00:00:27] If you've ever felt overwhelmed, frustrated, lost, or alone on your journey to a better and more purposeful life, you're in the right. You weren't designed to be average. So it's time to quit living that way today. I'm giving you permission to unlock your true potential and step into all that you were made for.

[00:00:45] What's up champions. Welcome back to the men made for more podcast, Dr. Dave here, excited to be with you guys, excited that you guys are tuning in. And we've got an important topic out there for all of our entrepreneurs and entrepreneurs [00:01:00] to be out there. And this is avoiding shiny object syndrome. This is talking about how do we actually get results?

[00:01:07] How do we not jump from thing to thing? Or as I like to say, how do we keep the main thing? The main thing. And I think, uh, I think this is something that is, it's talked about a lot, but not really implemented well, and some of the things that we've talked about in the past of things like necessary endings and knowing where to, where to prune the good to get to the great, uh, knowing how to identify what that one thing is, how to have the vision for where you're going.

[00:01:33] All those things are extremely important, but how do we actually stay on track on our way to getting there? How many of you listening have started something only to get distracted and get off track and find yourself further away from that. How many of you have started something, whether it's in a workout plan or a nutrition plan or a new business or new business idea you're leaning into, or a new market, you want to reach a new way.

[00:01:57] You want to do that? A new idea for [00:02:00] podcasts or social media or whatever it might be only to find. Getting distracted with something that, that might be better, a better way to do it. A better time management strategy, a better, a better workout plan out there, a better, uh, a better business idea we're always looking for for better.

[00:02:16] And that's the, the great thing with. With the vision that we can have as business owners, as entrepreneurs, as people who want to just shake up this world and, and change things for the better, you have an idea that you want to want to bring to life. And with that comes lots of ideas underneath that, of, of how do you actually do that?

[00:02:34] But if you're not careful, this can be one of the most dangerous places to be when you start jumping from thing to thing, always having new ideas, always acting on new ideas without harnessing that, that energy. And, uh, this will, this will lead to you feeling. Burnt out, you feel exhausted, you feel like you're never picking up any kind of traction or momentum.

[00:02:54] This can lead to you feeling like you're never, never quite seeing things through. And seeing [00:03:00] that, seeing the actual fruit of, of, uh, the plans you have, it's not even that your goal-setting is bad. It's not that your plans are best. Not even that your ideas are bad. It's just that you're not sticking them through long enough.

[00:03:10] You're not staying with the, the main ones that will have a domino effect on everything else. And I know I've been there. We've uh, this was, we were infamous for this at the start of our business. We, uh, have revisited this several times of, um, pretty much every, at least once a quarter, um, in terms of like bringing ourselves back to what's, what's our vision, what's, what's our, what's our purpose?

[00:03:33] What are we, what are the things that we do best that we need to stick with? Where are the sure. Bring in new ideas, but one of those new ideas are going to create the biggest domino effect to bring that vision to life. Bring us closer to that. And that's something we, we revisit monthly, we revisit quarterly because as humans, we get off track, we start doing something and even for doing it well, and we're starting to see results on it.

[00:03:55] Something about us just likes to change things. Just likes to, likes to switch things up. [00:04:00] And you need to be really careful about that because sometimes it's, you know, it can be, it can be boring to, to reach your goal. Sometimes it can be mundane, it can feel, it can feel repetitive, but you need to keep bringing yourself back to that, that ultimate vision and keeping what's what's most important, uh, at the, at the top of the list and knowing what those, what those big rocks are underneath that that's going to have that.

[00:04:21] So you have your big vision up to. Yeah, maybe your yearly goal that you want to hit. You have your thing. You want to hit this quarter, a want to hit this month and keeping those rocks for the, for the month or for the quarter, those big rocks we say that can, uh, they're going to drive things for the fastest.

[00:04:36] You need to look at those things every single day to remind yourself of that. You need to continue to pull back to that because there's going to be new ideas that come up and you're saying maybe we can go that way. Or people are going to approach you, especially as you become more successful, we have more people, more and more people reaching out about.

[00:04:49] Business opportunities and partnerships and different things that all sound great on paper, but divided energy is not going to get us closer to the singular vision that we have. [00:05:00] So be aware of that. And I want to give you guys a couple quick ideas and resources that you can actually take away if you want to really dive deep into this.

[00:05:09] Because if, if you're listening, you find yourself struggling with this it's time to get back on track. And some of the things we talk about the goal-setting and now process, you have to first know what your, what your big vision is. But a lot of people know that, or at least know enough of that to be diving in.

[00:05:24] And then you have to start breaking that down. What are your things this quarter that you have to do? I like setting quarterly rocks. This is big from a, the book traction. I recommend you go get that book. It's a, it's been huge for us in implementing some, some organization around our business. And, uh, in that book, it talks about there's, there's a visionary and there's an integrator.

[00:05:43] And the visionary is always thinking of ideas. And this were allowed entrepreneurs find themselves w we have no shortage of ideas in our business, but we've had trouble. Uh, trouble putting those, bring those ideas to life, staying, staying with those ideas long enough to actually see traction, actually see the fruit of that.

[00:05:58] So I highly recommend that [00:06:00] book, uh, Gino Wickman that they wrote it. And I think it's his first name, someone Whitman. And, uh, he, he has another, here's some other new books out that talk a lot about rocket fuel and, uh, talking about pairing a visionary and integrator and, and needing these systems in place to be able to stay the course of these ideas long.

[00:06:16] To see the, see the returns on them. And if you're missing this in business, if you're only on one side or the other, you're going to find yourself in trouble, especially for the visionary. If you find yourself not reaching your goals, continue to fall short, you might start getting discouraged that you don't have what it takes, but really you just are missing some little organization to, to bring, bring those ideas to life.

[00:06:35] So attraction is a great book. Uh, one thing by Gary Keller. There's another one that a highly recommend that's on my list of one of those books that I read every single year. Uh, one thing and essential ism kinda kind of talk about the same thing of, of finding that singular focus. What is the one thing that if you accomplish that will, uh, make everything else easier, make everything else, uh, faster to fascia to succeed faster, to come to life.

[00:06:59] Those are [00:07:00] the types of questions you'd be asking to making sure that you're staying on the same pace and moving in the right direction. So, uh, one thing in essentially. Uh, those are a couple of other books that I would look into. Uh, but if you guys need support on this, uh, make sure to make sure to text me and reach out.

[00:07:15] This is something that I've had to, I've had to learn the hard way myself. Uh, I've helped dozens of clients and people, uh, business owners get, get through this leaders that are just having trouble with gaining that traction, finding that momentum. Just piecing their, their thoughts together and knowing, okay, what does that, what does that market I need to attack?

[00:07:34] How do I need to, how do I need to do that? Is it a, is it a podcast? Is it a blog? Is it social media? Is it? We have all these questions that we ask and you could read different articles that tell you tick socks the best, and Instagram's the best. And you have to post this time of the day and oh, you have to be doing a blog.

[00:07:47] No blogs are dead. You have to be on, on YouTube. YouTube is the place to be. And remember that every single one of these people are selling. You want some something and an idea, or a course or something, of course they want you to be more involved in that thing and [00:08:00] more involved in what they're doing. So just be, be wary of that, of people that are saying that this way is the way to do things.

[00:08:06] This is the next wave of marketing and take all that into account. And, but just don't. Don't don't get caught on the endless pursuit of looking for the next best thing, trying to find the next shiny object. What is that thing that's going to get you rich quick. What is that thing that's going to blow the top off your business.

[00:08:25] Those things are, that's a dangerous place to be. You need to fall in love with the consistent process of it, you know, fall in love with showing up every single day and staying focused on those. One on that one thing on those few things that are really driving your business forward. If you need help identify that, how would love to reach out and get on a quick call with you?

[00:08:43] Make sure to shoot me a text 7 6 0 4 7 7 4 3 6 1. Uh, just shoot me a text. If you listen to this episode and you need some more guidance on this, because a lot of people get stuck in. Okay. How do I identify what my niche is and where my market is or where I need to be, where I need to be diving into. And sometimes we can get lost when we [00:09:00] try and do that in our own head.

[00:09:01] So be happy to, to chat with you guys, at least texts back and forth. And if we need to set up a call to do that, I would love to help bring you some, some clarity on that. Uh, but go check out some of those resources. That's really where, uh, we found, uh, we found a lot of help in those, those people that have wrote those books are, are people I respect and, uh, people that have put a lot of time into.

[00:09:21] Organizing those thoughts into a single thing. So those books would be a really good, a really good place to start as well. Uh, but make sure that you guys aren't, aren't getting caught, uh, Jason chasing rabbits. What are they? What's the saying? If you, uh, if you try and chase two rabbits, you'll catch none, something like that.

[00:09:37] I'm sure this. All sorts of sayings and wise, wise, Proverbs and wisdom around this because it's true. If we try and if we try and chase too many things, we end up getting frustrated. We end up getting overwhelmed. We end up finding ourselves falling short. Instead of those people that I see that are successful, time and time again, people that turn their business around when working with them, the people that see the most traction in business are the ones that can stay [00:10:00] focused on what their purposes they focus on, what helps them get there.

[00:10:03] That could be a hard thing to identify, but once you do stick with it, don't a. Don't look right. Don't look left, stay, stay right on course with that. So guys, I, uh, I know if you guys are in business, you can relate to at least a portion of this. If you're anything like me, uh, so make sure to check out some of those resources, text me.

[00:10:21] If you need to 7 6 0 4 7 7 4 3 6 1. I always love hearing from you guys and connecting with you guys. Uh, last, uh, last thing before we wrap up this, uh, you know, the short episode today, if you guys have been listening for longer than a few episodes, if you guys consider. Long-term listeners. If you guys have found any value from this, uh, I would highly appreciate you guys going to review this on apple podcasts.

[00:10:46] I'll put a link in the, in the show notes to find the show, but if you can leave a five-star review and a quick, uh, just a real quick write up. If you can take a couple minutes to do that, that would mean the world to me, because that really helps these podcasts to grow. That helps us [00:11:00] with. Being found in, in searches and helping more like-minded listeners to, uh, to listen to the show.

[00:11:06] So if you guys have found value from this, if you guys find yourself continuing to get, uh, even, you know, any kind of, uh, value and wisdom from this, uh, that would be highly pre. And, uh, if you do leave me a review, uh, shoot me a text as well. I'd love to, uh, love to send you guys a little. Thank you. So you can text me at that number as well.

[00:11:24] And just let me know if you got a chance to leave review. Uh, I'll just take your word on it. You don't have to screenshot or anything, but, uh, let me know that you did that. And, uh, I would love to love to thank you guys personally for, for doing that and for, for being. You know, some listeners and keeping, keeping me going with this, especially in changing seasons of life changes and all those things.

[00:11:44] I just, I love doing it from here and the impact it has on you guys. So appreciate you guys listening and, uh, go crush the rest of the day, rest of the week. Stay laser focused on what your one thing is. And we'll talk to you guys soon.
